Hello! One more week down, bringing me closer to a few things I'm really excited about...Hubby & I will be celebrating our 1st anniversary on the 26th! What a year it has been, full of extreme highs, lows and everything in between! Also (of course) the birth of our baby boy Leo, who I am itching with excitement to meet! Finally, the thing that's been on my mind quite a bit...COOLER WEATHER!!!
Don't get me wrong, I do love summer. Lake days, BBQ, camping, and more hours of daylight. However I can honestly say that fall is hands down my favorite time of year. Pumpkins, beautiful colors of nature, delicious recipes to try out, and Halloween! I'm especially excited for Halloween this year, and am thinking of all sorts of fun ways to dress up my baby bump!
I liked the summer a lot more when I was a kid, usually because it meant no school! A few years back however, I got a heat stroke and ended up in the ER with a few IVs to rehydrate. Ever since then the heat makes me feel a bit off. Hubby's favorite season is winter. He loves the snow. It's kind of a bummer we don't get much where we live, with a few exceptions. One fantastic thing about where we live here in the Pacific Northwest, is that all we have to do is get in the car and drive for an hour and we can be waist deep in snow at the foot of the mountain.
Favorite seasons aside, there is one thing that makes them all so much greater, and that is experiencing them with the love of my life. I'm lucky to have a man that takes care of me well, and in this next year to come, we'll get to experience all the seasons again with our little miracle. I wonder what his favorite will be!
Being a new wife and new mom, life gets a little crazy! I'll be sharing life's unexpected lessons and live-and-learn moments with you, and welcome you to share yours here as well. Follow along as we juggle life's curve balls, and attempt to create a happy life for our family♥

Pets, Baby Bumps and General Chaos!!!
Well, it happened! I officially forgot about my blog last week. Oops! Hopefully I will be forgiven :) A lot has happened since my last post. First and foremost, Hubby and I found out we will be blessed with a baby BOY!!! We couldn't be happier! We are so excited to welcome baby Leo Alexander to this world, and curious as to when he will decide he's ready for this world! Just a reminder, due date is Christmas Eve.
They day we found out was pretty hectic. The ultrasound machine at my doctors went down the day of my appointment, so we had to do a mad scramble to get me in somewhere else! I had a whole mess of family with going me, they were allowed back in the room in groups of two. I asked the tech to wait to reveal the sex until it was my husband and my mom in the room with me. We were surprised to say the least. We all were certain it was a girl. 5 generations of firstborn girls, a lot of us had been tempted to even buy girl clothes we were so certain. It's a good thing we waited though! We are so excited to meet our son.♥
This week has also been a bad one for the animals of the family. It began with my dad and step moms dog having a heart attack on their annual cabin trip. They had hiked to the top of the mountain, and the aging dog just collapsed. My step mom, with 4 young children and two other dogs, could not carry her back to camp. She had to leave her, hike back to the cabin, then drive an hour into town to get to cell service. When she went back the next day to find the dog, she found her at an older couple's campsite patiently waiting. By the next day she was back to her usual happy and playful self. Miracles really do happen!
My mom's cat also had an overnight trip at the vet, from licking his flea medicine. He was acting kind of strange that evening, and by the next morning the poor baby had the tremors, and she took him in immediately. He came back all better, but a little dopey from the meds. He is now back to being his lazy piggy self!
My apologies on forgetting to post last week, it's been kind of a rush of different things pulling me in different directions! I will have another post this Friday, on schedule. You have my word! Until next week...♥

Necessity or Luxury?
Happy Friday once again! Squeezing in a quick post before I head off to work this gloomy morning afternoon. Thank GOD for short days to start the weekend off right, huh?
Speaking of the gloomy weather, does anyone else actually kind of enjoy this foggy and slightly chilly thing we have going on, or is it just me? I love the fall, it's my absolute favorite time of year!!! I love the colors, the deco, the atmosphere, Halloween , the fall recipes, and fall fashion....everything! The only thing I think I can find negative about my favorite season, is the fact that my least favorite season comes right after. I don't cope with the freezing temps of winter!
Anyways, now that I'm done babbling about the weather, on to my blog topic of the day. I do have to be honest, I kind of copied from the local radio station, as one of the topics they covered on their morning talk show got my brain wheels turning. All the things we are convinced we NEED, that are really just luxuries. Some of the things they listed I agreed with, like ipads. I've never actually owned one, but I have a nice smart phone and a laptop that both work just fine. I never really had a need for another "smart" device. Another thing listed was engagement/wedding rings. Now yeah, we know it's not a necessity, that having a ring doesn't make you married. I think most people see a wedding ring as a huge symbol of their marriage. A lot of stress is put on a man to buy the perfect ring to make his woman happy. Society I think plays a big part on the importance of this symbol of a marriage.
I actually lost my wedding ring about 6 months ago... that was a hard one to tell my hubby. I did it anyways though, and really appreciated the way he remained calm and was really cool about it, and didn't make me feel even more terrible. I honestly kind of always had a fear of this happening. I'm terrible with jewelery. The only jewelery I've managed not to lose are all in my jewelery box for safe keeping away from my generally unlucky hands!
I wonder what unique "symbols of marriage" people have? And why? How do you feel about tattoos? Necklaces? Nothing at all? Why do you feel your symbol (or lack of) is important?
Gotta fly, but stay tuned for next week, and keep your fingers crossed that our little gummy bear cooperates on Monday and we find out some gender! Team pink or blue??? Haha♥
